About the Author Jamie Lloyd is one of the UK’s most exciting and successful young directors. Named as a Rising Star by the Telegraph in 2009, he was an Associate Director at the Donmar Warehouse, winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical for Passion. Shakespeare, cut but not maimed By E M Taylor This is the version edited by the director for the production in London's Trafalgar Transformed in 2014. Richard III is Shakespeare's second longest play, so it was cut quite a bit for this production. No, I am not going to tell you which play is Shakespeare's longest, because you probably wouldn't be reading a review like this if you didn't already know that factoid. :-)There is an interview with the director, Jamie Lloyd, and a Rehearsal Diary by the associate director Richard Fitch. There is no interview with Martin Freeman, who plays Richard.If you are a Shakespeare fan and want to see what was cut, this is for you. If you are a Hobbit or Sherlock fan, well, like I said, no interview with Mr. Freeman, so pass on this. If you want the full Shakespearean version for your English class, pass. This was printed before the production opened, so there are no pictures except that one on the cover.
