Yes, it's an astounding compilation of insightful interviews with the men and women who have played superheroes in the last 3 or 4 decades. But the interviews themselves offer insight into the nature of the film business, acting, and even how we construct our identities. The author is a gifted interviewer and it's amazing how every page contains information and behind-the-scenes material that's never been heard before (and I read a lot of this kind of book!) This is a great gift for anyone who loves action/superhero films.

By Tracy This book is a real pleasure to read- a literary buffet of interviews with the men and women who brought so many of our favorite super heroes, and villains, to life. The book combines a dual approach to the subject- it's both a scholarly investigation of the subject as well as a playful, celebration of superheroes by a true fan. Reading this book took me back to the "gee whiz " feeling I had as I watched the first Superman movies, mixed with the cheeky humor woven through the Batman TV series. I found out that many of the people "behind the cape " are as just as big a fan as I am. I predict that many will buy a copy of this book as a gift for a friend or relative who's a Super Fan, and then feel the pull to go back and snag another copy for their own enjoyment.

Excerpt from The History of Salt: With Observations on Its Geographical Distribution, Geological Formation, and Medicinal and Dietetic PropertiesHow frequently it happens that those natural productions with which we are to a certain extent superficially familiar, are to a great many not only uninteresting, but are regarded as subjects more or less beneath their notice; and by others as deleterious to the human race, and therefore to be cautiously used or scrupulously avoided. Another peculiarity is, that the more we are accustomed to them, the more our interest wanes, and probably at last degenerates into apathetic indifference.We can only attribute these ignorant conceits and apparently unaccountable obliquity of judgment to two causes: an assumption of wisdom, and an unenlightened mind, unwilling to learn and loath to improve. Another hindrance which to a considerable extent precludes the study of what one may truthfully designate every-day subjects, is the restless furor for artful counterfeits of science, which are nothing else than the emanations of vain and visionary minds mixing together, as it were, an amalgam of truth and error. The present age is wonderfully productive of these eccentric ideas, while at the same time it is unhappily pregnant with the most unnatural and anti-healthful habits. The author, which little is known about, had to be from England as he often mentions salt mines from there as if the reader should know all about them already. The book as no current salt facts. However, if you are interested in salt, then this book does contain facts about salt. Overall it is okay and a fairly good read. Lots of history on one of the earth's oldest byproducts.

I find myself going back to it again and again. The medical terminology is pretty heavy, but the writing is concise and descriptive. I learn something new with every perusing. It's the kind of knowledge that can liven up any party or make you seem like a total freak. Or both.

About the Author Marie J. Ziegler was born in June of 1963 and grew up in the small town of Hudson, Florida. Marie is a full-time working mother of three and grandmother to one and a member of the Florida Writers Association. Unwavering Hearts (Always and Forever) is the first novel in a series of four. (Unwavering Hearts: The second Generation part one Harsh Lessons, Unwavering Hearts: The Second Generations part two Growing pains and the Unwavering Hearts: The Legacy Continued.) Writing has always been Marie's passion and her escape ever though she is the first to admit she is the world's worst speller. She wrote the first draft of Unwavering Hearts when she was only fifteen and in her words "It rattled around in my head for years." Until the story and its characters grew into what it is today and it is if nothing else an escape for its readers.
