This is a great book that will serve as a nice companion to the film.This is a well-balanced book that includes a lot of imagery: early sketches, concept art, production photos, character portraits, and shots of the finished movie. The book is mainly organized by major characters and sequence. Material is presented in chronological order of how it appears in the film.Anyone who has seen "Fury Road" knows that it has a very distinct look, whether it be the complex vehicles, the unique character makeup, or the overall color palette of the film. As you might imagine, there is a lot to explore in this art book, which allows you to see the design work up close and study it. There is also text in the book which highlights some of the design challenges as well as the overall film production process.Obviously, this book is highly recommended if you are a fan of the movie and were impressed with its visual elements.What's included in the book:- A look at all the characters in the film: including Max, Furiosa, and Immortan Joe- Makeup and costumes- Designing the Citadel- Creating the Vehicles (which were built to look great but also withstand the stunt work required)- Storyboards and sketches of key sequences- On-location photography (including shooting in the deserts of Namibia, Africa)- Photographs of the props, weapons, and vehicle interiors[Note: See comments section for links to a Photo Gallery of the book & the HD unboxing video]

Fantastic art and movie companion By Parka [[VIDEOID:4d1abf6bf5365d2eece6e040c495d8f1]]I've received a few request for the review of this artbook and now it's finally here.The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road is a huge 176-page hardcover artbook that measures 16 inches diagonally across.This book features the art and making of the film. In terms of break down, I would say it's 50-50 art and photography. The art consists of storyboards, story scene paintings, character and vehicle design. The photography are of film stills, behind the scenes shots and those to highlight certain aspect, such as close ups on the different vehicles. The photos are fantastic also because they are really high res where you can see lots of details and well composed like film art.The artworks are beautiful with a nice textural feel to them. I'm not sure how they are created but majority is definitely not digital painting, more like pencils, pastels, and those grainy medium, and some paintings also. Some drawings actually reminded me of Moebius' art because of the level of detail rendered.So what's featured exactly?Furiosa and the wives, Immortan Joe, Coma the Doof Warrior, Miss Giddy, Nux and the many other characters. Vehicles are the highlight also and we have the War Rig, Gigahorse, Big Foot and various other pursuit vehicles. The vehicle designs are really amazing. Overall, there's this really gritty steampunk look to everything and everything seems to work well together visually.The commentary included talks about the filming process, the characters, story plot at time, vehicles, building stuff, the staging and even some nostalgia from the first few Mad Max films. By Terrence Aybar If you're even mildly curious about getting this book, make it a point to purchase it because trust me, you will not be disappointed with it in any way. Every aspect of it is top notch. It's a high quality hardcover art book with tons of information on George Miller's action extravaganza Mad Max: Fury Road and just about every element that makes up the film in it as well. The characters, the actors playing them, the vehicles, the crew, the locations... everything is covered in specific detail and coupled with high quality, high resolution photos and artwork reproductions that make every turn of the page something to look forward to. The cover to the book alone is astounding, providing a vibrant rendition of the film's first shot of Max and his V8 Interceptor. The pages are good quality stock and help greatly in making the photos literally leap off the page like crazed War Boys. It's the kind of effort that stands out and shows that the person who put this book together, in this case regular Fangoria contributor Abbie Bernstein, really and truly wanted to give this film the coffee table art book it deserved.The one thing about this book that really makes it worthwhile is that it really gives you a sense of just how much work went into creating this action masterpiece. This film has practically been in the making for a decade and a half and it's wild to see just how many of the ideas and conceits that were thought up in its early stages made it into the film.I loved the movie immensely and the "Art of Mad Max: Fury Road" does it justice in a way I've seen few other books of this type do in regards to their respective films. My hat off to everyone involved in making this gift of a film experience and a big thumbs up to Abbie Bernstein for what can only be considered a true, genuine effort to give fans of Mad Max: Fury Road even more of this bleak vision of apocalyptic misery that I'm sure many people would welcome with open arms.HIGHLY recommended. Capital letters intended.
