There's a chuckle on every other page, which is an exceptionally high hit rate. Primarily a funny parody of the gritty action genre, it's also a parody of fiction writing generally, so whatever your usual genre, you'll find plenty of laughs here.As a writer myself, it was a real joy to see the rules of fiction writing blown to smithereens in such a hilarious way. It was a welcome relief from all the uptightness of the craft.Mustard's writing is full of energy, pace, and almost relentless humour. Every time you pick the book up, you know you're going to have fun.Following up with another book of the same character and genre while sustaining fresh gags at this level is going to be a tall order. Personally, I’d love to see him have a go at other genres, especially literary.

Klein So I picked up this book based on a recommendation from of all places a rugby podcast from the UK. I figured it might be worth a chuckle or two, but instead of that I got one of the funniest parodies I've ever read. The story zips along at a good pace hitting every joke and stereotype known to man for New York and a crime novel while the totally unreliable narrator breaks through the fourth wall with glee. There were more than one moments of laughing out loud, and while I'm not especially a fan of crime novels, I eagerly await the next installment.

Too much emphasis on race , color, religion. He explains every little detail, like he's talking to children. If this book had a charge, i would have refunded after the first 2 chapters. The main character(FRANK STOKER ) Makes Jack Reacher look like a pussy cat. Stoker is Superman in a leather jacket.
