The book comes with clear qualifications about the scanning process that enabled printing. Unfortunately, this process means that the original pagination was lost, as was the table of contents. The text is hard to read, and the page numbers won't be useful for citing in academic works. I won't buy a print-on-demand book again unless it is simply a scan and reprint of the original text as-is. I'd rather read a copy of the original on Google Books.

The author uses real language as spoken by real people to narrate misadventures inside and outside prison walls and in an out of the book's eponymous pornography shop. Some of author Jack Nixon's sentences are among the best writing I have ever read. This author's talent comes from real-world experiences that most readers of crime novels have managed not to have. The words look real, sound real, and linger.Unfortunately, a gritty style and street-wise writing talent can't compensate when the publisher and editors don't do their part. A book is a combination of many things including not just the author's writing style but editing, formatting, packaging — and above all, the size and shape of the finished book."Porno Shoppe" is an oddly small size which might be okay if it were an airport book, but it isn't. The device of numbering chapters in reverse order, which may or may not have originated with the author, doesn't work on the reader. The formatting of the text in this book is especially poor, with too much white space and too many variations in font making the text hard on the eyes and the task of reading an annoyance. Cover, binding, paper and typeface are all parts of what makes a book and all fail here.This is promising author who reached my heart but his work appears in an ineptly edited package that is difficult to use.

By Ivan de Neymet The Porno Shop is not a nice place, but it's a living.This is a story of a series of misadventures that happen to the main character, because of both being in the wrong place at the wrong time and poor decision making. A light read, with the characters acting in a way one does believe they would, it describes how one moment can change any idea of stability there is.Worth a read if you like stories told by the characters themselves, and if a series of misfortunes is your thing.

Jay `The first worthwhile British AIDS play, said the drama lecturer in our group. `An excellent commentary on the trauma caused by the advent of AIDS,' said another. One character obsessively checks his body every day for any sign of a lesion. There's a nice balance of wit and darkness, nice little twists among its dark humour. Not everyone liked it, however. `If went through my brain like a sieve. I didn't take anything away.' Maybe it's better in production and has less impact in print.To what extent does it satirise gay men? Or is it holding up a mirror. Endless small-talk about new gadgets, conservatories and plants as an avoidance of the fact that someone has just died.There's an amusing take on air-stewards, with their `false tans, false smiles, wiggling their bottoms in everyone's face.' Quite consoling for a friend who has just broken up with one.There's also bad taste: `an hotel that made Treblinka seem like paradise.'But what was Reg really like?

Glickman takes us through all aspects of what to do and what to eat to prevent this form of cancer. We learn what foods really pack a punch - fruits, greens, organic food, spices and fiber! As far as what to drink? Green tea! If you drink green tea on a regular basis, it could delay the onset of breast cancer. That alone makes me want to switch from coffee every morning to green tea!I’ve already had my own scare as a mammogram showed a lump in my left breast. It was biopsied and luckily was only a cyst, but was still removed due to the fact that it could have possibly hidden another lump behind it, which may never have been detected, especially if the second lump was smaller. Having one scare is one too many for me.I highly recommend this book as it shares so much more information than I could ever list here. Do yourself a favor and read this book!

Great healthy eating guide for women By TFLReader I can't begin to count the number of friends that I have who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in recent years. While the survival rates for this have skyrocketed, it is far from a pleasant experience to go through surgeries and treatment. I just finished reading author Hilda Gilckman's "Take Breast Cancer off your Menu" and found her explanation of protector foods to be both sound and pretty inspiring. Glickman not only identifies foods that can be added to your diet to reduce the chances of breast cancer, but gives other lifestyle suggestions as well - all of which I am implementing. Very well-written and an important read for any woman.

Heartbreaking, heartwarming, heartfelt By Weedereader As an avid reader of legal fiction, I truly enjoyed and recommend Personal Injury by Norman Perl. The novel's prologue opens with the main character, Jonathan Gold, sitting in a courtroom awaiting the return of a Federal jury who has decided his future, after a twelve week trial. The author had me hyperventilating. How Gold finds himself a defendant after decades as a successful personal injury attorney took me on a most interesting journey through one man's life with the law. In hindsight I think I can see why the those reviews lead me astray - isn't it curious that all three of the prior posts were posted on October 23, 2011. I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that's not a coincidence.Overall, I would call this a forgettable tale of a lawyer who fell on hard times after he was proverbially "ganged-up on" by the system, his former clients, and his peers.
