Covers The Penguin Pool Murder (1932), Murder on the Blackboard (1934), Murder on a Honeymoon (1935) (all starring Edna May Oliver). Murder on a Bridle Path (1936) (starring Helen Broderick), The Plot Thickens (1936), Forty Naughty Girls (1937) (both starring Zasu Pitts), and A Very Missing Person (1972) (starring Eve Arden).

By DragonWing I love Edna Mae Oliver and the Hildegarde Withers movies she made. Also the one with Helen Broderick. I'm afraid Zasu Pitts voice made the final two movies unwatchable for me. In any event, I was delighted to find this book. The title is awful (Murder on Celluloid???) but the book itself is an absolute gem for anyone who loves these movies. Great insights and history which enhances the enjoyment of the movies themselves.I don't know that they're ever shown on AMC or TMC anymore - I VCR-ed them all 20 years ago! and recently burned them to DVD-R. As a matter of fact, I'm watching Penguin Pool Murder right now!If you're a fan of "B mysteries," or just an Edna Mae Olver or Hildegarde Witers fan, you'll love this book.Lots of stills and posters from the movies - in black and white, of course, brief bios of the main actors insight into "Pre-code" production mores, the list goes on and on.Definitely recommended
