Life is full of disappointments - this isn't one of them. Cindy's voice is unique, funny and insightful. Sometimes irreverent, always honest and definitely funny.

I triggered Her Bully: Wonderful satifying stories By Shira Piven It is rare to stumble on a writer who has that impossible-to-describe gift for making people laugh. And even more rare when a writer this funny is able to hit bone at the same time. Just as I'm laughing out loud the next sentence makes me cry --unexpectedly, almost like someone turned on a faucet. She is effortlessly honest and her Chicago world is recognizable, heartbreaking, hilarious and you will want to read about it. I grew up on the other side of town in Chicago but I know this world because Cindy Caponera speaks to anyone who has ever hung out, lived in a neighborhood, been a "victim or a purp", wanted love. She has a crazy way of being able to capture the characters in her world, laugh hard at herself, while still staring down (and offering up) the painful truths we hit while just trying to live life."She saw that I saw the earrings and smugly touched one with her thumb and forefinger, as she continued clicking confidently down the street in her Gouchos and vinyl boots -- while I prayed for an animated unicorn to come down from heaven and whisk me away.
