About the Author Allison Hawn was born in Idaho and has spent her life obtaining adventures. The daughter of a musician, she was brought up all over the United States with occasional dalliances into foreign lands. She holds a degree in psychology from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, where she also had a weekly humor column with a small time newspaper "The Crusader." "Life is a Circus Run by a Platypus" is her first creative published work. Her second book, "Life is a Pirate Ship Run by a Velociraptor" is due to be released through Sweatshoppe Publications later this year. She currently resides in Spokane, Washington, where she works with the homeless, domestic violence victims, and other disenfranchised populations, but calls a myriad of locations home.

Will Tickle your Funny Bone By WelshChris Life is a Pirate Ship Run by a Velociraptor is the second instalment of shorts from the pen (or laptop) of Allison Hawn, following the same tried and tested format as Life is a Circus Run by a Platypus. There is no doubt that, simply put, Allison is a magnet for the weird and wonderful , and she chronicles her experiences and the wacky people she meets along the way in an incredibly funny compilation of shorts. Allison is the type of lady who would end up sitting to the weird guy on the bus who is compelled to tell his life story. But Allison thrives on it! Her analogies and one-liners are top-rate. Sometimes I re-read lines and think ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ How about ‘An ex is like a zebra carcass, only interesting from a safe distance, overall something you want to avoid and you hope is eventually eaten by a lion’ for a line? The book is full of them. I think Allison knew she was on to a good thing from the reaction to Life is a Circus and she has managed to improve on that with Life is a Pirate Ship. If you like books that are fast, funny and insightful, then this is definitely for you.

By BS Johnson Once again, as I picked up Ms. Hawn's book, I anticipated a strange adventure, judging from the title. What I got was that and so much more. Ms. Hawn delivers in a way that only she can, having a sense of humor that can only be described as "unique" and "one of a kind". I enjoyed this one incredibly and look forward to her third, as Ms. Hawn never disappoints. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever owned a pet, had a job, or...who am I kidding? If you're breathing, GET THIS BOOK! You will laugh, smile, ponder, reflect, and so much more!
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. LOVE, LOVE IT! By Dianne Harman Ms. Hawn defly puts her finger on the ludicrous nature of events and people with a telling eye and a forgiving voice. I rarely laugh out loud when I'm reading a book, but this was a common occurrence as I read about her adventures and the people she encounters. We all have adventures and run across different types of people, but few of us have the ability to translate our experiences into a simply wonderful read! Congratulations on writing a superb book and this is one I enthusiastically place in the five star category. I simply loved it!
