By ROBERT MONCRIEFF A wonderful collection of puzzles thoughtfully selected and well presented. The hints and solutions parts are particularly well compiled, allowing for the more difficult puzzles to be revealed. This selection, reminiscent in style of Martin Gardner, nonetheless brings together old and new puzzles in a very straightforward and accessible fashion. For some puzzles, notably for me the "Monty Hall Problem", the analysis is beautifully phrased, offering several different ways to look at a famously confusing issue. There were some new treats here too; it is an inspired compendium that includes pure arithmetic, math, word problems and physics problems. An absolute please to dip into, as well as immerse oneself.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic Analysis By Alan Munro A great collection, but the best part of all was the problem analysis provided through successive hints. The book gets you thinking not only about the brain teasers themselves, but also about systematic ways to solve problems. I found a number of new (to me) puzzles and enjoyed going through each, patting myself on the back for the ones I solved and marveling at the solutions for the ones I didn't, with more than one "Ah Ha!" moment from the hints. Well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

The collection of brainteasers themselves are fantastic, the hints and analysis are spot on, and the running commentary that accompanies many of the brainteasers takes this book to the next level. Enjoy!!!
