As with Nadd Wellgreen's previous effort, "Lovely Box of Chocolates" Wellgreen's latest "Banalects of Mediocritus" is a thoughtfully constructed and delightful assortment of poetry, translated from Latin rhymes, which were found scrawled among clay tablets near the outhouses of old Rome. Banalects offers an assortment of translated reflections on life and death, and everything sandwiched in between: youth, marriage, and work.Particularly entertaining were Wellgreen's translations on marriage: "Girls seek husbands who come most empowered; Boys seek wives who come the most endowered." Truer words were never spoken in Homer's Odyssey. If Wellgreen keeps producing such hilarious dactylic hexameter translations, he could well become a finalist for the $1000 prize in the coveted Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry contest: https://winningwriters.com/our-contests/contest-archives/wergle-flomp-humor-poetry-contest-2014But he will just need to steer clear of writing about squirrels, as this topic has plagued the judges in past years.
