About the Author Drake Bingham was born while the Battle of Britain was being fought high above the English countryside. A few years later he stood at the curb of a residential street in his small hometown watching with fascination as German prisoners-of-war were marched past on their way from the train station to the prison camp south of town. By all accounts, Drake was a cheerful, inquisitive and sheltered child. After the war, during recess of his first day in school, young Drake was introduced to the real world. It was all downhill after that.

This is a lot like a Carl Hiassen book By Ramona Darling This is a lot like a Carl Hiassen book, only with Texans and Okies instead of Florida wildlife. The first laughs are on the first page, and Bingham mixes social commentary (like, the CIA has limited the Mob's contribution to foreign policy to money laundering, providing prostitutes for visiting diplomats, and importing drugs from anti-communist dictators) with very visual and funny slapstick humor. Really worth reading.
