Helfing This is difficult to write:Though the information in this book is valuable, this is NOT a book for beginners in any way shape or form. Yes, it describes how to play and includes opening moves/responses, but then goes on to very advanced gameplay; only someone with years of experience could usefully comprehend. Rating it as a 1 feels rough, but if a beginner is contemplating on purchasing this book, I want them to know that it really is an advanced book.On a content level, it's about a 3. There are much better books out there that discuss theory and "tactics". But the misleading title really bothers me.The one good thing it has are the updated recommend moves. Texts from the 70s/80s sometimes shun moves such as slotting the 5 and recommend making your two point instead of throwing down builders from your mid, but this book clears that up. It also has some information on the doubling cube that is nice, but once again there are other books that cover this more clearly.Buy this book after you've read 4-5 other beginner/novice classics + a year of daily play under your belt. It really should be used for polishing once concepts are already fully understood.
