This book is dedicated to our three children: Jerusha, Hana, and Chance. It is a way for me to tell them about my life, the things I’ve done, and the lessons I’ve learned. It contains eleven chapters, each describing a different phase of my life, followed by an important life lesson I learned as a result of my experiences. Writing this book has been very therapeutic for me, as it allowed me to examine the things I’ve done and the experiences I’ve had in an introspective manner. The process of writing has helped me gain an overall perspective on the meaning and importance of key events of my life and those I’ve shared it with. About the Author Dr. Weaver completed his Ph. D. in Counselor Education in 2009 from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. His research, published in Counseling Outfitters, focused on the relationship between cultural/ethnic identity and individual protective factors of academic resilience. Dr. Weaver has published several articles in the magazine Guam Business News, as well as the Guam newspapers Pacific Daily News and the Guam Tribune. Dr. Weaver has written for Air Force Base newspapers in Hawaii, Guam, and Virginia. While serving on active duty in the U. S. Air Force, he published a “Concept of Employment” technical document that described how to operate the military’s premier survival radio, the Combat Survivor Evader Locator, currently in use worldwide. Dr. Weaver grew up in Morro Bay, California, attended college at the University of Oregon, and earned his Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Guam. He has worked as a steelworker, firefighter, carpenter, teacher, counselor, and college professor. Dr. Weaver also served 20 years of active duty as a U. S. Air Force officer. Dr. Weaver is an avid sports enthusiast. He has sailed, windsurfed, scba-dived, parasailed, hang-glided, mountain-climbed, sky-dived, surfed, and skiied. Dr. Weaver played college volleyball for the University of Oregon and college basketball for the University of Guam. He competed internationally in four sports: volleyball, basketball, cross-country, and track and field. Dr. Weaver has run 37 marathons (26.2 miles) with a personal best time of 2 hours, 43 minutes. Dr. Weaver is married to the former Lauren Murphy of Tumon Heights, Guam, They have three children: Jerusha, Hana, and Chance. He and his wife live on the central coast of California. Dr. Weaver is currently the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Oxnard High School, California. He is a retired Air Force officer and a disabled veteran.
