Jordan’s have now developed the pack into a fully-fledged book entitled the “Employment Guide to Procedures” written by barrister Simon Harding… and it is much more of a commonsense management tool than a law book!We feel that this guide should be required reading for anyone who has set up a company, or is proposing to set up a company, and intends to employ staff with all the responsibilities which go with it.Harding states that the purpose of the guide is to explain that “in reality employment law is your friend” - that is exactly what it is. It’s a highly readable advice statement as a primer with no case law or pesky statutes to be bothered with so the entrepreneur can feel a bit less constrained by the pomposity of the law and therefore more relaxed about the business advice which Harding actually gives us.Potential employers must have what Harding terms “robust systems and procedures in place”, and “the right paper trail” (the dreaded paperwork and attention to written detail), plus the correct documents. The budding businessperson then stands a much better chance of successfully resisting some of the more spurious employment tribunal claims put forward and other equally unmeritorious claims which we see so frequently than those employers who do not have a proper guided plan.Harding’s guide explains how employment law can be used to your company's advantage.
